DES is a main printing partner at Head On Photo Festival 2016. Head On foundation was established in 2008 as a non-profit organization to encourage excellence and innovation of photographers, regardless of their career stages. It aims to promote their work and raise awareness of important issues that are going on through the eye of a photographer.
Head on foundation’s main activities are Head On Photo Festival and Head On Awards. The foundation believes that every artist needs a fair chance to show their work, and hence was the idea of having the work submitted to the festival judged without the any names or pedigrees. This is why Head On has earned an excellent reputation in terms of integrity and fair opportunities.
The festival has toured in different countries across the world to introduce the international photographic elite to the wealth of photographic talent Australia possesses.
DES has joined Head On as a printing partner because it believes it should support the art and photography industry. DES provided Head On awards with the Eclipse solvent Radiance Satin photo paper, which is a high quality inkjet paper specially designed for solvent and mild solvent inks available in either gloss or satin finishes. With a wide colour gamut, this photo paper can produce high resolution images with vivid colours, for stand-out images. There is no other product like this on the market. Many solvent paper products produce poor images that look dull and washed out. The print quality of Radiance is amazing and the prints will amaze the users, its also compatible with Eco-Solvent & Solvent inks.
The customer who did the work was Bob Milles from ArtHead.
This is the first time Head On decides to use a solvent printer instead of an aqueous printer, thanks to the new Epson SureColor S80600 64” wide format solvent printer, which runs with the Enhanced 9c Ink set with the new Red and Orange produces the widest colour gamut in the Industry.
The Dual black’s inks enable superior B/W and colour output with outstanding gradation and depth. Also the new formulation features a gloss level that is up to 50% greater than previous generations of Solvent ink.
The new inks features meet the major environmental standards and are Nickel Free.
This is the first time that a solvent printer has been able to match the colour coming of an aqueous printer.
